I've just bought a AMD QUAD CORE Phenom X4 9500 Hybrid SLi Motherboard and 2GB DDR2 Memory. I have installed it into my old Tower and booted it up but I keep getting

"Reboot and select proper Boot device or Insert Boot media in the selected Boot device and press a key"

????? I have just put a windows Vista CD in but im getting nothing... I did get to a windows screen once or twice and it started to load. but then I got a blue screen. NOT a BSOD but a lighter windows screen and all that I could see was the mouse curse and I could move it around.

what am I doing wrong? any help?

Can you get in the BIOS?

Could be the boot up order.

press the del key on your key board and enter the BIOS

you should find a boot order.
slect HD00
or HD01

Or better still unplug anything you have attached to it?
it sounds like its trying to boot from a memory stick?

Re format the drive and start again
to do this set your DVD/CDrom drive as your first drive
set your hard disk drive as your second drive typcially HDD0
or it may say C:
or even Hard disk drive
save the settings in the bios, then re boot the system make sure your windows vista dvd is in the drive, it will automatically load up follow the process for re formatting and re installing windows vista.
plenty of youtube videos on how to do it here
