just wondering who has one
ive had mine since xmas and it kicks the ass of the 360
so much quieter, better GFX, better front end, and free online paly!

if you got one what games u got.
wot's your user name
any games to recomend
anything worth downloading from the PS store or other places
and hardware / accessories you would buy / recomend?

first of all i would get yourself a wireless keyboad and mouse for web browsing

well games ive got NFS UG its a good game not a and drive but good fun no the less and the map is huge!!
not played online with it yet

Resistance 2
havent had a chance to play this much but from what ive played so far, its good, online is where i think i will spend most of my time playing, a good firstperson shooter. a bit had to get used to after playing COD4/5 tho.

GT prologe
WOW, what a game, a bit short but still wow, roll on the final realase date! a must buy for the ps3

the GTI club (free download of the demo)
a great classic woth a download anyway.

and i had to buy one for the G/F
Wall-e dont even know what this is like not my type of thing.

Posted By: exploding_penguin Re: ps3: who's got one? - 18th Jan 2009 12:22pm
with full 1080p compared to the 720p the 360 throws out and blueray player i think it wins hands down!
Posted By: AX_125 Re: ps3: who's got one? - 18th Jan 2009 12:33pm
my 360 runs at 1080p, few games i have seen running side by side, i dont think the graphics on the ps3 warrent the extra money.

Besides, out the box, i think the XBox is a far better gaming machine.
Posted By: exploding_penguin Re: ps3: who's got one? - 18th Jan 2009 12:43pm
i couldn't get mine to run more than 720 on a 1080p plasma.
its not like it takes much to set up the ps3 tho choose your settings and off u go.
i do agree tho alot of extra cash for what it is, but imho think it beats the 360
i own a 360 aswell btw, dont get me wrong the 360 is great but....
Posted By: MGCraig Re: ps3: who's got one? - 18th Jan 2009 2:05pm
Ps3 is Much Better than XBox. Its been let down because it took so long to release it, and to release a version that everyone wanted, for a "Reasonable" price (Still too expensive). In the meantime, everyone went for the Wii and the 360. Dunno Why, because the Wiis graphics are exactly the same as the Gamecubes, and it doesnt even have any decent games (all just cutesy family games)

Whenever the 360 and the ps3 are compared online, or tv etc... For some unknown reason, the companies ALWAYS pit the top version of the 360, with a standard PS3. If they compaed the full versions of both, no-one would have bought the 360.

I havent the money or the time to buy a current gen console, but if I did, I can guranantee it would be the Playstation. In my experience, any game on the 360 simply feels like an Arcade Game, especially racing games.

Heres something for you, you go to someones house and you see a 360/wii you think, lets play some games. You see a PS3... you think WOW.

Case Closed.

Come on guys, I have a life remember, because I dont have ANY games consoles whatsoever. Ive outgrown em, bored by them. End of the day, we get ripped off whatever we buy.

My younger bro has had a 360 for the past 4 years. Its broken 5 times !!!!!!! He doesnt do anything out of the ordinary, its just a shoddily made piece of crap.

Seen that vid before, it pisses me off not because theyve destryed a ps3, but because they have the money to just do that, and because they think theyre being martyrs. End of the day, theyre computer geeks, who probably havent got girlfriends raftl raftl raftl raftl raftl raftl raftl raftl raftl

I mean, look at that guys beard HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Posted By: _Ste_ Re: ps3: who's got one? - 18th Jan 2009 3:45pm
tell your brother to stop smothering it, move it to somewhere with enough ventilation to keep it cool smack

Jeees! What is it with people today?

If its not torturing cats with flea crap its blocking their 360`s in cabinets without any ventilation no
Posted By: MGCraig Re: ps3: who's got one? - 18th Jan 2009 4:03pm
Its not in a cabinet, it has its own well ventilated shelf happy

Its just crap

Never had these problems with our Sega Mega Drives, PS1s, N64s etc etc.....
Posted By: AX_125 Re: ps3: who's got one? - 18th Jan 2009 5:09pm
suppose if you want superior graphics, the only way to go is on the PC. There is never going to be huge differences in ps3 and xbox due to limitations of the tv.

well i would say that it was thrown togeather so quickly that they didnt think of these little problems like ventilation of the gpu and an internal hdd, they just kept adding stuff and didnt think of re-designing the box. end of the day they are a software company and thought they could fix it with the next patch. well it doesnt work like that with hardware!

Posted By: SoundLad Re: ps3: who's got one? - 18th Jan 2009 11:33pm
360s are crap plain and simple why ??? Cause they where made by a company that makes a piece of software which always has a bug so obviously the 360 has a bug cause it does a 360 turn if you do something bad only microsoft can make things die.. BSOD and " Lights does that tell anybody anything.. I have an XBOX upstairs and i dont even play on it why? cause its the missus she wanted one so she brought one but i have my PS2 and i swear buy it had it for years never had any issues and to be honest PS3 can have my finger 2 why ? to dear and just over priced on the games maybe in a couple of years when they are cheap maybe i might buy one. smile

Right you are, i apologise, there is software to make your xbox into a media center pc, xbmc, i have it, its amazing!
Copy games dvds to hard drive, install bigger hard drives, play nes, snes, megadrive, neo-geo and arcade games, mp3`s, wma`s, and ANY video file you can think of!

Don`t try telling me the playstation is a better machine coz i`ve had both and kept my xbox as its far more advanced.

I prefer my psp to any other playstation raftl

But as ax_125 said before, you will NEVER beat a pc, so stop the argument now as the 360 IS a pc no

Yep thats right, you can have mine for £80 with loads of games, it plays nes, snes, megadrive, normal sega and arcade games (meaning pac man, galaxians, pole position, new zealand story, tekken, defender) i have em all, includes pouch 3 memory cards, games, and charger.

I find the OS that comes budled with the 360 is pretty neat, especially since they release the newer version. Can copy games to hard drive officially now.

Regarding comments about the wii being shit, the wii is targeted at a totally different audience which is why it has done so well.

At the moment, the Xbox is the best gamers console out IMO. Give it about 12 - 18 months time then i am sure the PS3 will be the console to have especially as prices come down and developers unlock the full potential of the console, but at the moment there isnt much of a reason to buy one other than the blueray player.

I do love my DS for a hand held console though smile

Seems your a bit touchy on the subject Ste raftl ......

Id rather waste my limited amount of money on Motorsport based activities to be perfectly honest. A Lot more fun, social and develops skills (as Im sure youre aware of)

My friend Glynne, spends his ENTIRE student loan on games consoles, a bit sad if you ask me. He then complains that he has no money to go out and socialise with smack smack

Say what you like about the Ps3 it's run by Sony.

Now you have to go a long way to find a company I dislike more than microsoft, but sony is one of em.

Everybody keeps saying that oh next year the PS3 will take off as it gets cheaper and develepors learn to do more with it. Now it's getting to the point where I simply don't think this will be the case.

The PS3 has been out for a few years now, and still the games being released for it are still pretty equivalent to what's on the 360.

With the economic downturn, the fact that the PS3 is difficult to program for could end up being it's death nell. Software companies are going to be just as effected by the recession as anybody else, which means that they'll be putting their money where they can get maximum return for minimum investment and that's going to means games developed for the 360 and then ported to the PS3, or just more 360 exclusives in general.

The only decent games you may see on the PS3 are ones already in development where too much money's been spent to justify just dropping the project.

Unfortunately for Sony, they just priced themselves out of the market and made their console too difficult to develop for.

It's a shame really, as big a bunch of douches as Sony are, they built a hell of a machine.
Posted By: AX_125 Re: ps3: who's got one? - 19th Jan 2009 5:28pm
Some good point there, i suppose also, as microsoft charge for xbox live it generates extra revenue that they might use to entise big games (such as ones that used to be exclusive to PS)

I can imagine alot of focus over the next year or 2 will be generating income on extra downloadable content and addons etc as it might give good income for lower amounts of work

i used to spend lots of money on gaming but no more, still interested but never find the time really, i use my pc for gamng when i get chance, my xbox psp and ds just gather dust raftl
Have to admit, the kids have 2 ps2s which i recently bought the best game ever for myself for them grin Metal gear solid happy unfortunatly its only available on playstation frown i do have a playstation converted version for my pc but its MEGA hard to control & can be rather annoying to say the least wink

But come on Dude.... Playstation has Gran Turismo....

No game on the Xbox comes close to that in terms of handling, realism, graphics and tuning the cars.

you need to play Forza then mate wink

Unfortunately I have done man, just doesnt come close.

The only people who say that, from my experience, are people who realise that the xbox would be better off having that game, but too afraid to admit it raftl

Forza well better game my opinion. smile
Posted By: AX_125 Re: ps3: who's got one? - 20th Jan 2009 11:33am
Forza has most of what GT has, plus fairly realistic damage which i dont think GT has.

Forza is boss online, especially a drifting race
Posted By: Anonymous Re: ps3: who's got one? - 20th Jan 2009 11:42am
the drifting race.. now that is boss what a game
Posted By: StuyMac Re: ps3: who's got one? - 20th Jan 2009 11:42am
Forza and GT are very similar - on-line Forza is stunning smile

I wouldnt say there was that much between them, but given the choice GT is better in terms of realism - but not by that much.

(Im a driving simulator-a-holic grin )
Posted By: AX_125 Re: ps3: who's got one? - 20th Jan 2009 12:07pm
I once did the drift race in an integra, obviously everyone was like wtf, but actualy got alot of lift of overstear and tapping the handbrake i was pulling of better drifts than some RWD cars - obviously not as fun but more challenging

Forza 2 review

GT 4 review
GT 5 Prologue review

Obviously Forza can hold its own and isn't as bad as the GT faithful make out, that said, i do like the onboard camera of GT 5, will be good to see if that exisits for all cars when the game is released, hopefully the new forza might have that feature aswell.

dont get me wrong forza its bad, just not as good as gt.

We've got a PS3 and a 360 - i'm not a gamer but the other half is, he uses both of them but preferes certain games for each one, i've got a PSP think i've used it three times at most lol - i'd much rather have my Sonic game on the Saga lol - you can get the Sonic game for the Wii from the points channel, i was a very happy bunny when i found this out lol - but i was amazed by the quality of graphics on both the PS3 and 360

Honestly, if you buy a PS3 you're ripping yourself off. Why spend so much more money on something with less games? Blu-ray drives aren't that expensive any more.

Also, on the first page somebody implied that all or most PS3 games are rendered in 1080p. This is not true. There are a small selection of PS3 games which are rendered in 1080p but the majority are not. What you're doing is forcing the PS3 to upscale the 720p render to 1080p rather than allowing your television to upscale the image. In addition, the PS3 doesn't even contain a hardware scaling chip and will instead upscale in software, possibly impacting performance without any obvious change in image quality. Conversely, the 360 supports upscaling to many more resolutions than the PS3, including 16:10 resolutions, on its hardware scaling chip. The winner is clear.

The Wii is the only console with real innovation, even sony copied nintendo when they saw the wii motion sensitive congtrollers. Wii games go for game play and their market is almost completely different to PS3 and 360. In my experience Wii games fit into a busy 'family' life if you've not got hours to spend playing. Don't get me wrong I love the 360 and ps3 which both do arcade and simulation very well, but the wii just fits better without taking over your life.....feel free to flame!!! [Linked Image]

I have one and rarely use it. But t'other day I used it properly and didn't realise you have an internet browser on it. Also recognises more video codecs on PC on same network.
I really prefer the interface over the XBox360, which I think is a bit plasticy looking and really doesn't do much. I thought Little Big Planet was over-rated as well.

Cant wait for Forza 3.
