That Windows Vista is such a mess??? Ive just been thinking and imho the writing was on the wall tbh!!

I mean lets think about this logically... originally when Microsoft announced the successor to Whistler, they said it was going to be Blackcomb and am sure it was supposed to come out in 2005??... but then Blackcomb was delayed and they said that Longhorn would be released as an interim product... they said summit like a late 2003 released... Then this was delayed time and time again, whilst in the meantime, Blackcomb was changed to being the "server" product, then shortly after it was scrapped!

Then when they started to release more and more detail's about Longhorn, it emerged it would have things like WinFS and load's of other "Blackcomb" features in it... then by 2006, Microsoft had backtracked as WinFS would'nt be ready on time and dropped loads of promised feature's because it was already 3 year's behind schedule... in fact they even said WinFS would be dropped altogether and be used for MS SQL database development instead, as it was that far behind schedule!!

Then in early 2006, they were saying Longhorn would be out by summer... Christmas 2006 comes and goes and still no sign of Longhorn. Then eventually in January 2007, Longhorn is sent out to the OEM's and begins to appear in the store's in February, some 4 years overdue and without tonne's of promised features!!

And yet after all this time and development, Blackcomb is still not with us, considering it is now getting on for 3 year's overdue, in fact it was dumped 2 year's ago and then resurrected last year as Windows Vienna, which is now officially called Windows 7 obviously to mimmick NT 7.0...

So all that Vista actually is, is an antiquated shamble's, from a bygone era, a product that was supposed to be a temporary stopgap has been raped of a tonne of features and pushed as a major development, and yet will be replaced by the real Whistler replacement in 2009 if Microsoft hit target, but given their recent success, it will be more like 2011...

So is it really surprising Vista is such a mess... is it really surprising that people and OEM's don't want it!!

Im sorry Microsoft, you fooked up big time with Blackcomb/Longhorn/Vista and as a result NT6 is dead! Long live the king NT5...

Sorry for my rambling on about it, someone may find it amusing/interesting, just had to get it off my chest!!

I know that it's in the interest of the hardware sellers, OS developers and software companies but why is every version of Windows 4 times as large and twice as complex to use as the last.

To run Vista you need a home computer that is the equivalent of a server from 4 years ago......

I used to work for a bloke who put the oldest OS on his pcs that they woudl support - the result they were blistering fast (but he couldn't play fancy games). I've always thought everyone in IT should stop trying to be clever and make things work really quick as there's nothing more frustrating that the f*cking egg-timer.

You've set me off ranting now!
