According to reports, Sky is in talks with broadcaster RTL about swapping its 17.9% stake in ITV, for control of Five, which RTL currently owns.
Channel 4's News at Noon has reported that senior sources say talks between RTL and Sky are going on, though both companies have refused to comment.
While under investigation by the Competition Commission over the acquisition of the ITV stake, Sky is prevented from transferring ownership of its ITV shares, without trade secretary Alistair Darling's permission, but with that permission, the review - expected to cost £500,000 - may not go ahead.
