I am looking for any information on the White House in Childer Thornton.
Mrs Jones lived there in 1916 and I would like to know if this was a well known house in the area? Was it a big house? and does the house still exist?
I would be grateful for any information.
Nick.
According to the 1911 census it had 6 rooms, the occupant or form filler is asked not to include, Kitchen, Scullery, Bathrooms or Lobby. The address given was White House, Chester Rd, Childer Thornton.
The properties enumerated either side of White House, 1911 census were, D Williamson, Thornton Hall Lodge, Childer Thornton and W Baxter, School Lane, Childer Thornton. This indicates in what order the enumerator visited the properties and not what distance there was between them. The Google Maps link is the White Cottage, Chester Rd, on the corner of School Lane. May have once been called White House previously?

No mention of names in its grade listing (184 Chester Road) but it would appear to be the only candidate.
Many thanks for your replies. I also think that 184 Chester Road is the only candidate.
I am pleased that it still exists and has a grade 2 listing.
Thank you so much for all your help.
All the best.
Nick.
