A while back there was an active member called 'Artymum'?? who promoted cultural/ history Events on here.

One such Event was a History Walk around Tranmere and myself, T.C and Suexx attended.

We were told that there is a horse buried on the grassland site at the top of Whetstone Lane (adjacent to Church Road and opposite the old convent).I forget the details now but the Guide also mentioned that this is why nearby Pubs have 'horsey names'.

I have spoke about this with T.C who does not recall this bit of the walk/talk. I wonder if anybody else knows anything??

Google shows up nothing frown I am convinced that I did not dream this- can anybody help?? This has been bugging me for months now.

Almost certain there was a topic on it. Bert1 is the guy, he'll probably remember.

Will see if I can remember but dementia gets in the way !

Thanks Granny. Will have a 'search' although I think I would have tried that the last time I got a 'bee in my bonnet' about the subject.

I am looking into Pub names origins now- see if that brings anything up. Slightly off topic but the above link has some interesting pictures of degenerated Tranmere.

Just had a look through some pages. Can't pick it up anywhere but could it be the Black Horse but not Whetstone Lane?
Better picture page 1 on this link.
