Working in the Bromborough area for SP Manweb at the moment and finding the areas industrial past very interesting, Today we were on a site next to a powerstation control room and 11kv switchroom , searching a few posts on here I am now confused as to which powerstation it was, CEGB or the Lever powerstation?
Can any of you local experts point me to some pictures of what these Powerstations looked like in their heyday.....

I worked in Levers Labs and used to test coal and later oil fuel for Central Power Station which was run by Unilever Merseyside Ltd. Also tested boiler water etc. The station provided steam and electricity for the Unilever businesses in the area. Confusingly it was also known as Mereyside Power Station.

The Central Electricity Board power station was for the National Grid and was a separate site.

Unilever could supply power to or take power from the grid depending on demand.

We kept going during the Three Day Week but we had to reduce lighting etc. to help the grid.
