Does anybody have any information about this street?
Where was it, exactly?
When it was built? Demolished? Or its occupants- particularly in the late 40s, early 50s
Thanks.

Thanks Degs. What year is the map dated?
1950s
Give you 1 guess which wiki member was born and raised in number 12 Oliver Place (marked in green on map
Was it you?
yes. that's truly amazing how you got that - you must have some psychic gift we didn't know about
lol.
so would Wilson street have been in the region of where the Vue is now?
Roughly where Milton Pub is (it's a breakfast bar now). Would have been demolished circa 1969 ish to make way for the precinct.
Aha! Yup, know where Miltons used to be. Thanks and thanks for demolition info.
Follow the orange lines from the Crown pub and compare on the 1950s map
Pity I can't overlay maps
Hi. Just finding my way around this website. I was looking for a map with Wilson St on it. My grandad John Quirk and great grandad Tommy Quirk (on my mothers side) lived in no. 10 Wilson St round the corner. Maybe you knew them. I remember the Brown Jug. Don't think I ever supped in the Combermere.
Hi my husband knows a few Quirks ,from the area .used to drink in the Imperial Inn in Tranmere. Think a Tommy Quirk died maybe last year and he had a son micky ,he died quite few years ago .
Tommy was my uncle.Died last year. Great guy.Had a big do in the Imp.(All paid for by Tommy). Do you know Karen?
Is that his wife ,only by 'sight' , funny enough there was a notice for Mickie in this weeks Wirral Globe, from Tommy, karen, pup and gang....08/02/2009
Thanks for the info missmahjong.

I lived in Wilson Street from birth to it being demolished (about 12 months) we were moved to Wilkinson Street which was also demolished about 2-3 years later. I obviously have no memories of it so sorry to gegg in!

I’ve just been trying to find out where Wilson Street is, or was, in Birkenhead, as my grandfather William Kavanagh lived at no. 9 in 1904 when he married Bridget Watters. Csn’t find it anywhere? Can you help? Angela

St John street and Hemingford street with Thompsons mission and the school building are still in that area if you do a google search for a more modern view to where Wilson street was. Please look at maps posted earlier in this thread
