Trying to locate Rushton's Court, Birkenhead - have gone further back in the family tree and found someone of mine living at no.5.

Have had a quick scan of old-maps.co.uk and not found it....

Thanks again everyone for the Millers Place stuff..

The 1861 Directory places Rushton or Rushton's Court adjacent to 11 Chester Street. This was in the section of Chester Street between Rose Brae and Church Street; the properties here were demolished some time before 1875 in preparation for the building of Woodside Station, so they don't appear on any of the OS maps.

This table gives the outlining area, so you can work it out from the roads around there as marty99fred said.

Superb - absolutely brilliant - my reference was for 1861 - so that fits in.

Suspected by the 'court' name that it was back-to-back housing - there is an oft-published picture of barefoot kids in rags 'in the Chester Street' area - wonder if this was it ....

Rushton Court was still there in 1881,

If you look at the photograph here ...

https://www.wikiwirral.co.uk/forums..._Shakespeare_Hotel_234_C.html#Post726273

... it shows the view east along Waterloo Place from Chester Street. Co-ordinate with Bert's map and you'll see Rushton's Court is first on the left just past the Shakespeare pub (the Shakespeare is the pub on the left, the Prince Alfred is on the right).

Thanks All - much appreciated.
This fits in with early family I have confirmed in the Jackson Street area.
They gravitated westwards to St John Street and Conway Street areas - posh heh ?.

Thanks Again
