I have come across a service medal for the Tobruk siege 1941 the name on the medal is for a J Watson, it has a brown ribbon with red and blue stripes on, this service medal was found in a block of flats currently being demolished on the Wirral, I would like to pass this on to any surviving family member if possable can any one help please
A very honourable thing you're trying to do,
Its not an official medal and was issued by the Rats of Tobruk association in 1977, so tracking them down may help.
A quick google tells me it has a facebook page, that might be the way to go.
Thank you I'll give it a go
Bert and futurepast, the pair of you are stars!!
Is there no name around the edge of the medal?
Is there no name around the edge of the medal?
The name on the medal is J Watson, first post, whether its on the edge on that particular medal I don't know.
Sorry for the delay in answering, yes the name on the medal is J. Watson wrote on the back and on the front it says tubruk siege 1941, no writing on side of medal, the medal was found in a site clearance on a demolition project on the old morton hights flats.
