From a historical viewpoint (after being impressed with recent threads showing Gene Vicent and Paul Simon playing at local venues) I'd be interested to know the first concerts people attended. I'm guessing there will be quite a range.
For me it was Supertramp (my sister was a fan and I went with her) at the Empire circa 1975/76
Anybody remember Derry Wilkie and the Pressman. A Liverpool group who played at the Krall in NB frequently. Mid 60's. I really enjoyed them.
Sorry I'm not hijacking your thread, just thought some may find this interesting

About
Please visit our Website @
www.merseycats.comMission
To raise funds for sick and underpriviledged children by meeting and playing together as musicians.
Personal information
We are a fundraising organisation founded by the original Merseybeat bands of the Sixties.
Also known as 'The Rock 'n' Roll Children's Children's Charity', we raise money for sick and under-privileged children in the Merseyside area. How do we do it? Every Thursday evening we hold a Jam Night at the Aintree Conservative Club. On various occasions throughout the year we put on shows featuring bands and music from the 'Sixties'.
Personal interests
We are always interested in new visitors to our events and would like to make the aquaintence of like-minded bands & musicians (No matter what age) who would like to try their hand. We have a full PA, back line and drum kit so all you need to bring is yourself and your instrument if you need one.
Mine was Oasis - M.E.N. Arena - 1995/1996
Showaddywaddy in Southport
(I was a kid, I had no choice).
First famous singer I saw was Jimmy Ruffin at the Pleasuredrome around 1984/5 when it first opened. I was working there at the time so not sure if that counts. My first actual paid for concert was Billy Joel in 1994 at the NEC. Brilliant night, saw my idol, didn't think it could be bettered until I went to the MEN to see him again in 2006. Was in the 2nd row, took the kids. Unbelievable night.
Barclay James Harvest at what was the stadium Liverpool in 1985 brill concert
Greenday at the Men, 2005
I'm ashamed to admit it, but Gary Glitter and the Glitterband at The Southport Theatre sometime around 1978 ish
Buddy Holly & The Crickets at the Phil. Don't know when.
Shakin Stevens at the Empire around 1984/5, I saw him there a few times, then it was Michael Jackson at Aintree in 88, Chesney Hawkes 1991 and Guns N Roses in 1992...plenty more since then but I think the best I have ever seen was the first time I saw the Australian Pink Floyd at the "original"Summer Pops (the big yellow tent) :0)
Slade at Liverpool Mountford Hall 1974 - managed to grab one of Don Powell's drum sticks that he put on the stage to tease the audience (just out of reach)! Still got it somewhere.
The specials.....
Marillion
First concert - The Beatles 1963.
http://www.old-liverpool.co.uk/Beatles.htmlMany people who passed through the Krall, either performing or just called in to spot the talent (!), amazing how much fun you could have drinking frothy coffee, fanta or coke, and eating bacon or cheese toasties.
The Beatles at the Majestic
The Bachelors at Butlins
Hank Locklin (country singer) at the Plaza
Salde @ Palace Lido, Isle of Man 1973, amazing!
Saw the Who at The Cavern
Saw The Who at the Cavern.

Gene Vincent - Stadium Sydney Aust - circa 1960
The Bachelors (three of 'em and only 2 originals) L'pool Aust 2011
Saw The Who at The Cavern 1965.

Can't remember the actual dates or the correct order but have seen the following :-
Rolling Stones - Liverpool Empire
The Who - Liverpool Empire
Led Zeppelin Liverpool Stadium
Deep Purple - Philharmonic
All early seventies
yours are all dead good! Mine was, honestly, PJ and Duncan in the royal court in Liverpool for my 11th birthday, so 1994!!
Maybe not the first, but the most memorable - Little Richard and the Beatles at the Tower Ballroom, New Brighton, 1962. Awesome!
Can't remember which was first, but it was either:
The Who at the Liverpool Empire on 25th October 1970
or
Black Sabbath and Curved Air at the Mountford Hall around the same time
The Christians at the Liverpool Empire circa 1986.
Gerry's Christmas cracker at the Odeon (64 or 65)
Gerry & Pacemakers,Fourmost, hollies,Tommy Quickly.
Stones /Ike & Tina Turner/ Yardbirds.. Empire
Hendrix,Pink floyd, Amen Corner, the Move.....Empire Theatre
(all on the one night....incredible).
Buddy Holly & The Crickets at the Phil. Don't know when.
Yes you do!!
My first is embarrassing - it was Dead or Alive at the Royal Court
I have improved massively since then, honest!!
Hawkwind (& Bethnal). Liverpool Empire, September 1977. Quark, Strangeness And Charm tour. Magnificent gig.
bryan adams at wembley and again in gateshead. in the nineties
a bit off topic.but i took my daughter to see the chuckle brothers at the empire years ago and i literally nearly wet myself laughing. she even got their autographs lol
The Who at the Liverpool Empire on 25th October 1970
Must have been the same concert I was at
Jethro Tull , mid 1973 at the Stadium .
I was there too,matey-excellent night. My first gig was Emerson Lake and Palmer in 1974 at the Empire (God was it loud !)
Jethro Tull , mid 1973 at the Stadium .
Ace. Would've been the Thick As A Brick tour. Ian Anderson is doing the whole thing once again at Liverpool Philharmonic this year. Assuming his voice holds up that is.
the Paper Dolls and Scot Walker at the L,pool Empire 1967 or 68,
only went so i could say i'd seen someone famouse!!!!was'nt to keen on either! i was a Beatles fan but never got to see them!
Scott Walker, Aaah-that brings back memories. I was a huge fan of the Walker Bros. Scott disappeared from view-disillusioned with the music business. Great sadness. "Joanna" was one of the great solos of all time in my humble opinion.
I think this was the tour that The Pressmen backed Little Richard.
first live pub band was the neston snipers @ black horse w/kirby
first concert was D.ream at the royal court,
The mighty Quo, Deeside Leisure Centre 1981.
No wonder I've got tinnitus...
Great the Quo, DaryaD I was there about six foot from the stage standing on the ice covered in rubber mats, blow my ears out, fantastic night, i sweated a stone off that night..... lol
Saw Whitesnake at the Empire Liverpool in 84, now they blow my ears out for a week, they were backed up by a group called GForce don't know much about them.
G-Force was formed by Gary Moore after leaving Thin Lizzy in 1980 .
The band only survived long enough to record one album . They supported Whitesnake on their 1980 tour .
Gary Moore carried on mostly as a solo artist until his death in February 2011 .
Howard Jones at the Royal Court in 1983/4. Thankfully, it got better, with the Bunnymen next.
I remember seeing "The Real Thing" at the Rakers Return, about two hundred years ago.
Focus at the Liverpool Empire 1974 I think.
Not long after, The Who in Manchester. Amazing..
