has anyone got Folio Views 4.2 used for better searches in the 1881 census cd set
I would like to be able to search by street or occupation building etc
It is an advanced query prog so you put any word in and search for it

The 1881 census cds are on 25 discs and I'm not too sure if it only costs £10 now I paid £30 for mine at the time at familysearch.org

I know you can search online but would like to search better than just by surname

John Richard Thomas married Sarah Ann Roberts on birth certificate of my grandmother in Birkenhead 1893

I believe they were married in Oswestry but nearest possible one in 1881 census is a nephew
Would like to find (if so) who his parents were

ps did you have Folio Views I would like to do a 1881 search by pubs/hotels in Wirral if possible (ie ones I haven't heard of)

Would be grateful for any help

i have found them in 1901 census, they "could" have been married before 1891 cos of the age of the eldest child who was 13, born in Chirk.

could this be the marriage
Marriages Dec 1887

ROBERTS Sarah Oswestry 6a 1295
THOMAS John Richard Oswestry 6a 1295

Think this is going to be long thread so will take via messenger.

Sarah Ann Thomas formerly Roberts is on the birth cert

This thread may be interesting to others that are reseaching their family trees tho

Can I get a marriage certificate from the details you found if so how

please pm the census details

yes you can phone up the gro office in southport and order the certificate with those details or do it on line

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

it now costs £9.25 for a certificate,. do not pay anymore for it. You have to register but thats for free! look for marriage cert and then add the details. not sure on the time for delivery at the moment.

as for the census like you can only find the same one as you in 1881, but have found them in 1891, 1901 and 1911.
put your email address in a pm and i will email them to you.

struggling with 1871 cos it doesnt say a John R Thomas just a John Thomas, so may have to wait for marriage cert.

As for the pubs,, you may be best getting hold of a directory and looking for a list of pubs.

have a look on

http://www.historicaldirectories.org/hd/

and see if appropiate year,

otherwise its a visit to a library.

What Else Can Be Searched For?
Extra information which cannot be searched using the native search facility of the 1881 Census CD-ROM set but can be searched using Folio Views 4.2 includes:
• the names of ships
• the names of institutions such as workhouses and schools
• specific military regiments
• various occupations of significance to social historians such as “prostitute” or “cotton mill owner”
• individuals listed as unemployed at the time of the census
• the stock of housing enumerated as “uninhabited”
• farmers by number of acres farmed
• handicapped status such as deaf or blind
