New faces at Prenton Park ahead of Tranmere Rovers new season

TRANMERE Rovers have signed defender Maxime Blanchard today on a one year deal.

The 23-year-old Centre back joins the club from French side Moulins where he spent the 2009-10 season.

He has spent much of pre-season on trial at Prenton Park and impressed in Tuesday night’s game against Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Simon Miotto has joined Tranmere Rovers as the Club's new Goalkeeper Coach.

Australian Miotto arrives at Prenton Park from York City where he was goalkeeper coach last season.

Prior to that he played for a number of teams including Blackpool, Hartlepool United, Scunthorpe United, West Bromwich Albion and St Johnstone.

He will also be registered as a player to provide cover for the Club’s other goalkeepers should it be needed.

Tranmere kick off their npower League One campaign at Prenton Park tomorrow with a 3pm game against Oldham Athletic.

Manager Les Parry said: "I'd like to welcome both Max and Simon to the Club.

"Max has done well during his trial here and he can play in a holding midfield role as well as in defence.

"He's a good addition to the squad and I've been very impressed with his attitude since he has been with us.

"Simon is an experienced goalkeeper who has a good track record in coaching.

"He's enthusiastic and hard working and will help improve Gunnar Nielsen, Joe Collister and Andy Coughlin."
