Tranmere Rovers aiming for place in FA Cup third round tonight

TRANMERE Rovers are just ninety minutes away from finding out whether they have a place in the FA Cup third round.

Les Parry's squad take on Aldershot Town in the FA Cup second round replay at the Recreation Ground, which starts at 7.45pm.

At stake is a third-round clash with Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers in the first week of January.

The replay follows Rovers' 0-0 draw with Kevin Dillon's side at Prenton Park on November 28.

Les Parry will be looking for Rovers' second win in a row and their fifth since he took over as caretaker manager.

Aldershot are eight games unbeaten and their 1-0 defeat of Chesterfield lifted them into the League Two play-off places.

Looking ahead to tonight's game, caretaker manager Les Parry said: "The lads will be fired up because it's the FA Cup.

"I think Aldershot will have to open up a bit because they're at home.

"I'm sure they'll be aware of the threats we've got.

"They came here to get a result and they got it. We've got to down there now and do what they did to us."

Rovers continue their League One campaign on Saturday, when they take on Southampton at the Saint Mary's Stadium (3pm kick-off).
