My guess is... Not legal as it is infringing copyrite

It's a toughie. A lot of people put their shop bought cd's onto their laptops/desktops and then transfer them onto an mp3 player or mobile phone etc. This technically is illegal. The law is rather grey and open to various interpretation to be honest but hopefully the pm will clear a few things up.

It is illegal to sell a hdd full of mp3's as you will be profiting from copyright material. You might have been better selling the original cd's.
