Right, a blast from the past!!
Tidied the office the oher day, and have come across various different Pentium 3's that may be of use to someone.
Got the following Coppermines:
- 1000Mhz Pentium III - Socket370, 256KB L2, 100Mhz FSB - SL5QV!!
- 1000Mhz Pentium III - Socket370, 256KB L2, 133Mhz FSB
- 933Mhz Pentium III - Socket370, 256KB L2, 133Mhz FSB
- 850Mhz Pentium III - Socket370, 256KB L2, 100Mhz FSB
- 750Mhz Pentium III - Socket370, 256KB L2, 100Mhz FSB
- 800Mhz Pentium III - Socket370, 256KB L2, 133Mhz FSB
- 766Mhz Celeron - Socket370, 128KB L2, 66Mhz FSB
Also have the folloing Tualatins:
- 2x 1000Mhz Celeron - Socket370, 256KB L2, 100Mhz FSB
- Pentium III-S 1.13Ghz - Socket370, 512KB L2, 133Mhz FSB
The SL5QV 1gig P3 on the Coppermine core is rather interesting as it is quite rare, being a 1Ghz chip on the 100Mhz bus, meaning they work on the old 810 and 440 chipsets that ar restricted to a 100Mhz FSB. Could be a decent upgrade to drag out the life of a 500Mhz or so P3/Celeron system.
The Tualatin core's are better as they run cooler, use less energy, contain double the L2 cache that equivalent CU processors, and feature DPL so are noticebly faster than their CU counterparts (the 1.4gig PIII-S notable for being able to keep up with 2Ghz and above P4's - even the 1.13Ghz being able to roast the P4 Willys upto about 2Ghz in most tests), the downside being they are built using a 0.13 process and thus run at lower voltage than most common PIII mobo's can support, and kill off many boards hopes by requiring voltage fluctuations to be available in 0.25v increments instead of 0.5v increments of the previous generation of boards.
The P3 should run upto about 1.35Ghz quite comfortably, the problem is even non-JEDEC PC150 memory won't like going past 166Mhz or so and the multiplier isnt unlocked. Id expect the same top-end speed of the Celery...
Still, if you have a compatible board, they may well offer a life extension...
Also have a few 810 and 815 PIII boards hanging around, and a few 64MB, 128MB and 256MB bars of PC133.
Have two AthlonXP's, a 2200+ T'Bread A and a 2500+ Barton. Have a Clawhammer and a 3.2Ghz Pentium4 HT in mobile packaging (full desktop version not a P4-M or P4Mobile, just smaller chip) somewhere too, but would have to dig them out suitable for laptops and ITX boards. Also a Pentium M on Conroe iirc and a C2D.
A fiver per CPU except the SL5QV, which I will let go at £12 since they seem to go £30+ on the bay lol. Bizarre!!
