He is so cute, can't wait to meet him
You'll love him...xx
Getting big now....pics from 15th April
hes a cutie
Looking forward to meeting Auntie Rocks xx
He looks a 'bonny' lad.....
He was 8lb 4oz last week....
Bertie arrived today, settling in lovely. Made up with him. He has 'performed' outside, each time we have taken him to do his 'jobs'. He is adorable. Now weighs 8KG.
he looks so cute rude
x
Lovely personality....Bobbly Jay not fussed on him. LOL. Everybody else is besotted. <3 <3
aww they will soon find their place in the pack x
Aye, Bobbly wasn't fussed on his own Mother when she joined the clan. Hissed at her too.
Will keep them seperate whilst we are asleep, Bertie always under 'supervision' whilst he is awake.
I wonder if Bertie realises that he is the only person that I will get out of bed for on a Sunday at 7am!! (apart from Bob of course)
LOLOLOL xx
haha he could always have his wee then climb back into bed with you
xx
Hahahaha. So far he is 'banned' from the bedroom BUT not got there yet....and he may cry for his mummy/ siblings in the night. You know me- soft arse.
Wandering off with 100 lines...
I WILL SET BOUNDARIES
I WILL SET BOUNDARIES......
Say no more ....lol, i must say he has grown .....
He is about the size of Bobbly.....stocky legs. Loves the back garden...tail wags to the dozen, out there as he sniffs about and explores. Gill and Chris have done a really good job with him.
Sounds like he is doing ok ,, i wonder whsat sally will make of him.. lol
OMG. Johnny just got some really nice shots of 'last wee until tomorrow'. Resizing like a dervish....
That 'thing' dangling around his neck- off his collar- is a 'LED flasher'. With him being black coloured, he would be hard to see in the late nights- so just getting him used to it before he can play out.
Going to bed- little fella needs his routine
No wees, no poos upon awakening
thats great news for his first night, you sound like a proud mum
x
I am.
x
He's lovely Rude
Gorgeous. He looks as if he should be sitting on a shelf somewhere.
Oh go on then....will tell you about today. He has now started to whimper when he wants to go the loo. Only one 'woopsie' but that was coz I was out- my fella was out cutting the grass and my 'visiting' daughter, who was puppy-sitting did not realise the signs...Fair do's...no worries.
Just ignoring the 'negatives' of which there are few- by distraction and using positive enforcement re. outside activities.
So far, so good. Can't wait until we can take him out. He got two doggy friends already, waiting to meet him- Sally and Tarot who will help him learn to socialise.
Oh....yes. Forget to say. Starting to respond to his name now and find the route to the back garden and back by us 'thigh slapping'and encouraging him to follow.... He can't navigate the back door step yet though....
OK- will shut up now. lol
Started 'lead training'- walking him up and down our (long garden)on his lead. He hates it....he attacks the lead and sometimes stubbornly refuses to budge. We have quickly learnt to hold the lead 'high and tight'.
Also, started to not be as 'visible' to him when he is outside. From tomoz going to start pretending that all humans are 'going out'whilst leaving him alone in his 'safe space'- the Hall. In reality, will just pop outside for 5 mins.
Feel really tight
-are we doing 'too much, too soon'? Just want him to be a well-grounded, socialised dog!!
just reading the posts, I think your doing a grand job. but how do you get anything at all done???????? I would not be able to put him down and not stop talking in that voice we all get when something is so cute. oh god, I hope its not me who has that stupid voice?? he is lovely, keep up the good work x
keep up the good work Rude
and your not doing too much too soon your just doing what needs to be done
xxx

LOL- yup, it is difficult not utilising 'the voice'- luckily for him, I am a trained Counsellor -thus aware of collusion issues, bargaining etc etc. He can bat his eyes, shake his tail blah blah....mummy knows the score and can pre-empt him
xx
OOOOhhhh Bertie looking forward to you meeting him .
me too
xx
Thank God- Bertie now dispatched into the kitchen for the night.
Took him again in Missys car to visit my grandad- as per, he has to run the gauntlet of cooing rezzies and care assistants (he loves it).
After a while talking to my Grandad he starts acting like a proper little pest. He was grabbing hold of slippered feet, trouser bottoms, bag handles, coat sleeves, biting/ nipping at hands and feet. Generally, just being bloody annoying!! Whining too. (Missy found it highly amusing how Mummy Rude was clearly irritated).
Distractions did not work, 'time out' (putting him on my lap and ignoring the ickle man) did not work-for long. Could not figure out what his problem was....
....then he farted. Realised he wanted a number two- so picked him up and ran down to the wet room areas (toilets/baths) where he performed. I ignored him pre/during/after the 'curl out'
He was so settled afterwards- I think that is really clever of a 9 week old doggy. He must have been so confused and anxious.
Love him to bits xx
Very GOOD write up of situation...lol
Very GOOD write up of situation...lol
lol- he did my nut in. What did you day earlier: 10/10 for cutability and 6/10 for behaviour? lol
I have read that 8-9 week old pups are unaware of their own bodily functions: thus cannot 'punish' them for accidents- in which case- our Bertie is a genius. Very few indoor 'jobs'.
You saw his behaviour today-he was clearly upset at what to do re. wanting a poo in an alien environment- clever boy xx
Rudebox, i thought he was aware of bodily functions , that's why he ask's to go out .... COAT TO BE SEWN ...LOL
Bertie- pics taken on Saturday by Rocks.
Description: Auntie Rocks brought me a sterilised bone for being a Big Brave Boy having my second jab.
hes the biggest ball of fluff iv ever met
x
Puppy reunion at Moreton Shore. A good time had by all.
aww were they all excited to see each other? x
As I said with Ste`s pup, they look dead cute as puppies. I`d have a million if you could keep them that way. You could pick Bertie up and cuddle him forever, I`d just strangle Ste though LOL and rob his Pup.
aww were they all excited to see each other? x
Yes, absolutely. Bertie and Buddy were the two 'dominant' males present- just let them get on with it-lol. The females of the pack tended to be smaller in size.
They all had a great time, us humans did too. They did seem to recognise each other, it was great!!! My urge after the walk today was to take my shoes off but so glad we made the effort....can't buy 'socialisation classes' like that....
Thanks to Missy and Kitty-Kat (?- forgotten her user name) for the Lift
'What is that place over there'?
'That, young man is the GREATEST City on Earth'.

Can't take the credit for it, one of Pluses but yes- it is a great shot. (In reality, Bertie could hear the commentary from the Ferry and was trying to source it. lol) x

As soon as Chop is immune we can meet with them both, as arranged and socialise them together. As both are big pups they will probably 'bum-bash' each other but it will teach them both valuable lessons x
Awww yeah deffo

Give him a snack Rude, give him the whole bag!
That was ment to be "fab" rude, sorry x
Gorgeous looking dog, we used to have a lab crossed with a rotty which was a dog pound rescue. We went to collect a small jack russel but came out with a 6 stone bundle of fun that looked like he could be trouble but was as soft and loyal as any lab. We lost him to cancer 6 years ago but have great memories, i love your diary of the last year.
Bertie turned two yesterday. Big bugger now.
Gentle Giant, he is. 8 and a alf stone with paws bigger than my palms.
My daughter had a hamster called Bertie and my first ever visit to a vets with it was to be told "its dying--do you want us to humanely dispose of it--£15"
No thanks--gave it full service in garden in a box under a big boulder.
What made me laugh was the vet calls for you by the pets name..
