The Cats Protection League (http://www.cats.org.uk/what-we-do) can offer assistance with neutering:

I got a voucher from them many many moons ago to get our kitten neutered; the same cat passed away last year aged twenty, she had a good innings!

(I assume the kitten will be getting neutered, even though your post didn't mention it....)

The RSPCA offer for 'chip n snip' voucher for £30 to all people, whether on benefits or not. To take advantage of this offer please call them on 0151 638 6318 to book in for a microchip. they will then issue the neuter voucher to be used at your local vet. This offer is only available for cats and rabbits.
