I didn't know it had come back.
I thought it was caused by the bones that people used to let their dogs chew. Now they're advised not to there is no white poo.

calcium added to dog food now, but it wasn't back then.

plus a lot of dogs had distemper then.

I've noticed this! There is one in my garden in the flower bed - no idea how it got there, maybe it's a cat's, but it's white.

just curious as to how you know that it dissappeared in the 80's.

Was still around in the 90's too.

Coz i remeber it as a kid making 'hedgehogs' but then it seemed to disappear

I remember seeing some kid pick up a white dog poo (obviously not realising that, back in the day, poo also came in colours other than brown), smell it, and then chuck it down! Obviously when WDP was on it's way out, and not as common.

Apparently, dog food has to be edible for human consumption. Its EU law. No longer do they add chalk to dog food.

Its a fact.

I think it's to do (doo) with the poor owner cannot afford meat so just feeds the mutt biscuits?

But even so, why would biscuits turn poo white?

its not white anymore because they use to put ash in the dog food and apparently use to make the poo white..

white dog poo means a dog is eating too much bone in their diet,
i feed my dogs raw food and if they have too much bone ie chicken, then their poo turns white.. :- )

I feel thoroughly enlightened now.

Probably not, but it probably tastes better.

If you're willing to pat it into neat little squares and package it - no one would ever notice.

Should think you would have to dry it out a bit as well.

I went for a walk earlier and I saw something very amusing albeit gross...a big stinking dog stool with a tiny flag stuck in it. The flag had a tiny skull n crossbones on it. I live in south Liverpool and it makes me sick the amount of rubbish and dog poo there is on the streets. My other half has just emailed local councillor cos he is so fed up of standing in it!!

back to the white stuff...when I was a kid some older kids told me to go and get some chalk from the street to do hopskotch and pointed me towards white dog poo. There was always loads of it.I happily picked it up and took it back to them..hoping they would let me join in with their game. I was called sh**ty hands for at least 10years.
