I don't think I have seen any mention of The "Clarence" being closed for some weeks now. Rumours have bounced around locally, some that should not be repeated for legal reasons. I have heard that asbestos has been found there & has to be removed before it can reopen. Have also heard that the tenancy has been bought by the Laycock brothers of "Bobby's Bar" fame & that Les, a previous tenant is going to be opening up soon. Latest buzz is this Friday 4th Feb. We will have to wait & see!

Well, it didn't happen as rumoured. But there were contractors vans outside, so something is happening there.

It's not often that I am wrong, but I was wrong again! My bad timing, as the Clarence opened at 1800.
I popped in this morning for an excellent pint of Cornish "Doom Bar" at £2.40
