Description: Dispensary
This was known as
The Dispensary
Chester Arms
Hamlet Inn
I think the middle building was
90 Kossuth Hotel 18 Chester Street 18
now getting done up as
Gallaghers Pub and Barbers
is it ok as the new owners, to tell you that we are now up and running? Or is it classed as an ad? Sue and Franky Gallagher
the deed is done in the asking
As a matter of interest what is the barber part
Do you have a pint whilst getting your hair cut
Smashing little pub, nice to see it re-open.
Barbers is in the back where there is a raised area, I think food used to be served there, you can have a pint while your waiting for a haircut or after or as is happening on a Saturday morning stick your kids in the queue and go and have a pint!( no kids allowed in bar area)You may end up with more than you bargained for if you try and drink while getting your hair done(soggy bits of hair in your pint is no good even if it is real ale)
Sounds like a winner to me. My baldy friend needs a trim & I need a pint, so will see you this morning!
I hope the barber isn't allowed to drink
"Who's is that ear on the floor"
First class bar, looks just like a pub should do (to those of a certain age) Franky & Sue both cut hair & Franky does hot towel shaving as well. My baldy mate had a good trim, from Sue, then we both had several pints of good beer.
The bar is decorated with all sorts of military objets & pictures as Franky is ex Irish Guards. It also has a beer garden.
Definitly going again & will even take "she who must be obeyed" next time & it is even dog friendly!
Sounds like it's got all the makings of what a "proper" pub should be ! The combination of a barber's and liquid refreshment is a brilliant idea.
Bert's comment about the barber not being allowed to drink brings to mind that classic Python sketch... Shave, blood, cut, spurt, court case.....etc.
It's on the list for my next visit to the Wirral.
Best of luck Sue & Frank.
pic of when it was the Hamlet Inn
Thanks to Tatey and Chris, so nice to meet you and thanks everyone for all the good wishes and the photo
Sue & Frank
If you look hard you can just see Bert getting off the tram!
Took the dog & the child bride there yesterday & enjoyed an excelent pint of "Trappers Hat" from the Brimstage Brewery.
Had a few pints of "Trappers" here yesterday & a good haircut. Sue gave my mate & I the conducted tour of the premises & we lent on the bar from the Pool Inn as it was being fixed in place in the new function room.
We also looked in all the rooms all the way up to the top floor. Amazing -- untouched for many years. Now need to check out the cellar for any bricked up passages???
