Look out for 3 people. A tall lad with ginger hair and bad teeth who pretends to have Tourette's Syndrome. A black lad with a square afro haircut and a small girl who looks like she is 12 but is older. They called at our house saying they were selling loft insulation. The tall ginger lad kept youngest daughter talking and had our address and 3 other houses address' in our road written on a piece of paper. Youngest daughter thought tall ginger lad was on his own at first but was alerted by a movement from the black lad who had gone around the back of the car on the drive and down the side of it and was trying to get into the back door into the garden. Ginger lad did his best to keep youngest daughter talking but she slid the porch door shut and dropped the latch to lock it. She then ran to the kitchen and let Ceasar into the garden. She then ran upstairs to observe. The black lad had vanished and ginger walked down the street a bit. She then saw the black lad coming from the road on the opposite side of the house. The girl appeared and the 3 of them made their way up the road, the girl walking between the other 2. They didn't call at any other houses. Youngest daughter was too frightened to go out to the shop after this. I know no offence has been committed but I have reported this to the Police. Please be aware, if these people aren't breaking in themselves they will be scoping your property out for someone else to. They were all fairly smart the 2 lads both wore jackets and pants with open necked shirts. The girl was wearing a grey overcoat and a grey skirt and tan tights. Youngest daughter is 18 and fairly savvy, but this has left her quite disturbed.

On a lighter note the back door was locked from the inside, as its normally unlocked. This saved the black lad the fright of his life. On a more disappointing note the dog would have loved the unexpected exercise. Just on the off-chance the perps or someone who knows them is reading this, youngest daughter is the centre of his doggie universe, be warned.

Just posted this on the other thread about insulation also (by misake). Sorry, but feel it is a bit important, so, doing it twice.

I think you will find that although there are a number of agencies that have employed people to do this nationwide, they should be wearing ID badges. An appointment would be made by telephone for someone to come and inspect your home, and that appointment would be or should be confirmed by the surveyor, prior to the visit. So don't allow the door knocking folk into your home. If you are interested, it would be better to contact the Council direct or British Gas.

i think they called here too. the descriptions sound about right. I looked out of the window and then went to see what they wanted, They didn't wait for me to answer the door though. They probably heard the 4 German Sheps on the inside salivating and barking laugh
