Shame that.
How did you keep him there while the police came ?

Was there no CCTV outside the shop ?
Posted By: Sallybear Re: my car was keyed in claughton village - 12th Aug 2011 6:13am
How come the police can't do anything ? There are plenty of things that happen without any witnesses the police can still do something I don't understand.

There is loads of CCTV in C. Village such a shame they can't do anything.

Sorry about the car, it looks good!
Posted By: AdamEvans Re: my car was keyed in claughton village - 12th Aug 2011 7:09am
Yeah there is one camera and it was pointing the wrong way

I just need to find someone who saw it happen

I diddnt actually see him get a key out and scratch it. All I saw was him walk by very close to it and then it appeared

This is not enough for the police to do anything at all
But what I was told was that I will get a crime number so my insurance can sort it out !!!!
So basically I can pay for it

Also I sat in the police station for nearly an hour last night waiting to see someone about it and when finally someone wasn't busy i was told that there was more important matters and that she was too busy to deal with this at the moment please come back later !!!

I hate that no witness bull, we had our garage broken into several times and every time it was the same line "no witnesses" but come on how many crimes actually do have witnesses! They didnt take prints or anything. It happened so often that we ended up paying £400 to have it bricked up.

Hopefully someone will come forward for you hun.

So sorry Adam. It's really mean to get your car damaged by some scally. It's bad enough if like me you scratch your car yourself by misjudging a gap.

I wish you well

I'm not being funny but if you where parked outside the co op store in claughton I would give up on trying to pursue this as that's right on the pedestrian crossing and it has zig zags there if you mean you where further up towards upton then I'm sure the spar has CCTV and also the barclays bank to go back and ask in the shops you never know it might turn out useful

My Bold. I think perhaps therein lies the problem. Unless you can find cctv footage there really is not much you can do as it is your word against his. You could just be someone with a personal grudge against them, he could be your ex's new partner and you're not over the end of the relationship etc. Do you know the name of the individual? The issue would be that yes you could ask the Police to investigate but the amount it would cost to test any keys he possesses forensically would be astronomical and chances are they won't do anything except give you a crime number.

As for them being too busy, I can sort of see their point to be honest. I'm not saying that it's not a crime, but in the great scheme of things at the moment, it's not what I'd call a priority. I'm not condoning what has been done to your car, but the likely outcome is that he'd have to pay for the repairs, probably at £1 a week, assuming you get it at all.

My advice would be to just get the insurance to repair it. No, it's not fair that you should pay, but I can't see you have much of an option. Can it be T-Cutted?

I saw him walk past extremely suspiciously close. It wasn't right outside the co-op but at that parking there.
It was parked right by the bin and lampost so for someone to scratch it it would have had to be a real effort
No cctv at all as it was all pointing the other way
There is nothing I can do at all about this. Its just a big bother.
There was no issue with keeping him there as I rang the police and within 10 mins they were there but the couldn't speak to him until I had written a full statement but cos i never actually saw him do it the case will go no further
Its still the problem that my personal belongings have been damaged and nothing can be done
Its really upsetting

nice car, seen it going around, looks like the dr`s subarus.

Not meaning to put a bum steer on you but the ass who done this will get away with it.

Do something about it yourself.
Did he deny it?

So sorry to read this one, good luck matey. Pity no one else was with you but it looks like water under the bridge now. Was it a kid or a youth by the way?
Posted By: Bezzymate Re: my car was keyed in claughton village - 12th Aug 2011 1:27pm
Absolutely senseless.
Posted By: AdamEvans Re: my car was keyed in claughton village - 12th Aug 2011 1:35pm

Gutted for you. I would hate that to happen to my car.

:o(

Posted By: AdamEvans Re: my car was keyed in claughton village - 12th Aug 2011 10:00pm
i know its crap innit

but her is the breakthrough

the 437 arriva bus goes past every 10 mins one way and inbetween every 10 mins the other way
so while one bus has just gone out of view another one comes into view

also there is a camera on a post over the road in the college
there is one on the wall of the learning curve pointing directly at where my car was and also there is the big massive window on the learning curve. there must be one or two cameras in there too pointing outwards

im confident that we can catch this barstard
eventho i have already caught him. lets just hope i can get photographic evidence from it all
Posted By: MediKated Re: my car was keyed in claughton village - 13th Aug 2011 8:19am
Thats great Adam - I really hope you get a clear cctv pic and get the sod. Good luck hun.
Posted By: Bezzymate Re: my car was keyed in claughton village - 13th Aug 2011 11:07am
That is hopefull for you,great!

Can I ask,did he know that it was your car?
Posted By: AdamEvans Re: my car was keyed in claughton village - 13th Aug 2011 3:48pm
yup he knew it was mine
middle aged man. just decided to do it
obviously i need that total open shut case proof
lets just hope arriva can give it to me
they said they cannot release any cctv without the polices sayso on the subject
ive been back onto the police about it
if they dont ask to see the cctv then ill just ring every day and be a pain
i know its not important to them but it is to me

Yeah thanks for that Sean
The camera in in Birkenhead 6th form college
In the heat of the moment and because it was dark by the time I started looking for cameras I doesn't see it

Here is a piece of info for you tho
Barclays doesn't have ONE camera. Not at all
Not even on the ATM or inside
They have one sort of camera inside watching people walk in but it takes stills and isn't recording all the time !!
I was actually shocked at hearing this
Posted By: Sunnyhunnygirl Re: my car was keyed in claughton village - 13th Aug 2011 5:18pm
What is wrong with people? A middle aged man keying cars, what for? what is the point? senseless criminal damage, Most probably he is jealous because he hasn't got a car and so thinks it's ok to damage yours.
Posted By: AdamEvans Re: my car was keyed in claughton village - 13th Aug 2011 9:05pm
Hopefully he is a first time offender and gets sent to prison for vandalism and becomes someone bitch for a week or two. Only when he can't sit down for a month because of ringsting then I will feel justice has been done !!!!
Thanks for everyone support with all of this
Posted By: sean99789 Re: my car was keyed in claughton village - 13th Aug 2011 10:40pm
glad you spotted them all i did some work around the area years ago and spotted them all then smile but im oshocked that barclays dont have any
Posted By: rhoobarb2002 Re: my car was keyed in claughton village - 15th Aug 2011 8:41pm
Sorry to hear that. My car was keyed about 2 months ago on a Saturday night outside my house, no witnesses but its a through-way for drunks on a Friday and Saturday night so that would be my bet. Cant do anything about it, just hope that karma gets people in the end.

Hope you get pictures of the guy in the act though, it sounds more promising than most.
