I currently rent two council lock-ups.
Last year sometime, I had one in Eastham broken into, and my petrol generator was stolen. The lock had been broken, and the genny was removed. I changed the locks, and then they came back, they stole my welder as well. Again, lock was changed, and they came back for the rest fo my stuff, but it was all moved out by that time.

Last year in August, I received a bisit from two poice officers at 11.30pm, who asked if I owned a Vauxhall Astra (with reg). I thought, "Jesus! they've gone to my other lock up and stolen my car!!"

Apparently, three 17 year olds where discovered on a train by Transport Police travelling towards Birkenhead North (surprise, surprise), carrying three big toolboxes and a Nikon digital camera (mine also).
They were arrested and were recently charged (with some pissy community service punishment - and a fine which their mothers had to pay). They also had to write me a letter of apology (which I would shove firmly up their ar$eholes, as I this means absolutely nothing).
I finally got my stuff back last week after 9 months!

Just a word of warning, either put twenty hardened locks on your lock up if you have one, or don't have one at all.

Good Advice there wink

9 Months omg
Why so long, what was the hold up?
that is a long time to have to wait to get your own stuff back but atleast you got it back mate
Just slackness of the authorities and the police. Court sentencing or whatever was delayed about three times (it has to be withheld as it is used as evidence in trial). I was told I could probably pick it up in January, but getting hold of the right policeofficer and then getting through to the right department without going onto answer machine is a proper pain in the arse. I left my details with the bloke on reception to pass to the PC a number of times, but it didn't happen. But not that bitter as this is one time where they really excelled themselves.
Any other day, they should've got away with it, scot free with my tools/camera sold in cash converters, but it didn't work that way!! I was told they were serial lock-up burglars and total scrotes. A think one got sent down for a year, but this was on the back end of a number of crimes.

One thing I'd like is the council/landlords to at least put up CCTV around these garages. They're constantly getting broken into, and I always wonder if mine has again everytime I approach it, I wouldn't be surprised if mine is broken into again. If they can afford to monitor dog walkers etc, they can surely have fixed ones??

you can buy alarms with passives that run on
a car battery, and if someone gains entry you get a text
and you can also get it so you can hear them too.

I have that on my car wink Doubles as a tracker device too

I have a lockup, but it seems to be in a safe area as (as far as I know) none of them have been broken into. Some old guy who owns the garage next to mine accidently left his locks off for 2 days and nothing was taken.

Good to hear you have your stuff back though thumbsup

Good luck if you can track your car if its using
the mobile network. It can tell you its moved but
its so random at an actual real location imo...

Wirral Metropolitan Council have some thing were they keep in touch with the 'victims' (ie. me) over what the scumbags have been up to. I got a letter of apology written to me not that long ago, it's just one of the things they make them do. It's like an alternative to prison, but I don't think it's working as I got another letter two days ago saying they had re-offended again.
Just put them in prison, it's best for everyone.

Why dont they put the `lil darlings in your lockup!! Then YOU can pay them a visit whenever you need to take it out on someone or something!! Invite the boys round for a "kick about" now has a new meaning!!
I am a firm believer in sorting it yourself! This government of wet arses hasnt a clue. We should take care of our own and show the ... that they DO NOT own the streets!!
Power to the people!! bowdown lamethrower
rant over peeps. grin
