McDonald’s have been forced to recall a product for fear that it poses a chocking hazard.

No, it isn’t the burgers.

About 2.3 million Hello Kitty toys that come free in children’s happy meals have been deemed dangerous as the toy includes a small removable whistle.

Some children have reportedly inhaled the toy, with one requiring medical attention, forcing the fast food chain to recall the toys from stores in the UK and Canada.

The restaurant have also put out a statement asking customers to ‘immediately take the whistle away from children’.

Despite the dangers (and the PR nightmare it is sure to cause), McDonald’s say that only ‘approximately 30 per cent of the whistles’ actually made it to stores.

Anyone who brings in one of the dangerous whistles will be given a different toy and compensated with a yoghurt tube or a bag of apple slices.
