I couldn't help but feel a huge level of respect for these volunteers.

Dozens of pensioners are preparing to risk their lives heroically in an effort to clean up the Fukushima Dai-ichi plant in Japan.

The Skilled Veterans Corps, as the volunteers have named themselves, have recruited some 180 members aged between 54 and 78 for the cause.

They will be gratefully received by the workers at the nuclear plant, who have been battling to cool reactors since an earthquake and a tsunami rocked the country in March and sparked fears of a nuclear fall out.

Respect to them.

They were barstard in the last war but you have to admit they are very stoical when the chips are down. I think our cream generations before 2 world wars were of the same mettle.
