Boy's Near-Miss Playing Chicken With Train

Shocking CCTV footage of a young boy playing chicken with a high-speed train has been released - as new figures reveal dozens of recent railway deaths.

SKY NEWS

A camera in the driver’s cab shows the youngster standing on tracks as a passenger service approaches in Rochford, Essex.

The hooded boy rushes to a station platform as the train closes in - but he struggles to haul himself onto it.

He scrambles to safety with just seconds to spare, narrowly avoiding serious injury.

Network Rail said 49 people died after trespassing on train tracks between April 1, 2009, and March 31, this year.

Is this country getting thicker?

I'm for culling.
Turn the voltage up, nothing like a bolt of electricity to convince you that reality really does exist.
Its all because when you get killed in a computer/console game you come back again straight away - no consequences.

I'm more concerned with the effect it has on the drivers life should he hit one of these idiots, not easy to get over.

With Bert on this. It's the driver that would have it on his mind for the rest of his days. The moron on the tracks has no brain and is of no consequence, but could breed in the future and should be taken out of the gene pool pronto. Sadly there's no 3rd rail to zap the conductive .... Pity. Big flash. Instant fried Chav. The world's that little bit better ! Several thousand amps at 750v DC through his scrawny body would give him a good send off !

I'm with Bert and Pinz. It's the driver plus all the passengers that have their day disrupted because someone whose family tree looks like a length of 2x2 thinks it's funny to play chicken.

It's like the lad that was killed on the motorway - he shouldn't have been on there in the first place. It's not rocket science is it!?!

No loss to society if they get zapped on the lines IMO.

I dated a girl once who's ex decapitated himself in Wallasey under a Miseryrail service. Apparently rail staff knew he was waiting around the line and radio'd the driver to warn him that there was a guy waiting to jump under the wheels. The driver proceeded really slow.

The chap was hiding out of sight of the train and jumped out at the last minute, not giving the driver any time to stop the train.

I felt sorry for the driver as he was just going about his job and no doubt the image would stick with him forevermore. I'm certain that many of the Miseryrail trains have taken lives in their 30 + years of service.

I've watched a mate being electrocuted when walking through the tunnel pissed when I was 17 between Green Lane and B'head central. The voltage just knocked him out; i'd heard that it was the trains that usually finish the job after the electrocution. Fortunately for him it was 3am in the morning and I was with other liked-mined tunnel exploring idiots at the time.

that's really bad.
but this has got to be the worst I have ever seen.
not a child playing on the railway tracks but a split second lack of concentration by the childs mum.
