This story made my blood boil!
Unbelievable
Posted By: Sanchez Re: Dialling 999 - 15th Sep 2008 5:40pm
The force is urging the public not to dial 999 unless they are faced with a genuine emergency.

The reminder comes after operators, who receive 34,000 999 calls a year, said the number was being dialled for "wholly inappropriate reasons".

One call was from a woman splashed by a car which drove through a puddle.

The force said staff were verbally abused after challenging her for using the emergency line for her complaint.

I'll tell you now, why this is happening, because people are to affraid to know what to do if thing like this happen, normally you or I would throw some thing at the car, or hurl abuse, but no, we might get in trouble for it., we cant even fart with out knowing were it is safe too. imho it serves's the goverment right for being dicks, and making laws to prevent us from getting revenge wink

Let's be sensible here, peeps, do we know what a 'genuine emergency' is? Fire, Police, Ambulance-not getting your leg wet from a passing car or dropping your false teeth down the loo!?

and I think that there was a trial for a while which was quietly dropped when the current government realised how much it would cost....
