I use this motorway at least once a week collecting vans for work, yesterday i was stuck in tailbacks due to an accident, wondering what had happened i searched for any info finding out that its the most dangerous and busy motorway in britain. Just now i discovered this ClickMe and this Clickme just before and also theres been 3 deaths in a week on this motorway frown
I had no idea how dangerous this motorway was.
I never wear a seatbelt whilst driving the vans back, researching this has made me think again.
They know this motorway needs redesigning but cannot start until at least 2011 omg
So what the hell does our road tax pay for exactly? think
Its obviously inevitable there will be more loss of lives on this motorway due to its poor design frown
Thoughts go to the family of this poor person, r.i.p frown

the motorway may be poorly desiged but the idiot that caused that crash was drunk (going by the first article), therefore poor design or not, a tw@ that decides to get behind the wheel while intoxicated in any way will cause accidents just like this on the safer roads too

Why does it need Redesigning???
The death there was caused by a drink driver, who should be shot on sight anyway.

Ive travelled on the M6 enough, and doesnt particulalry seem that bad. The only bad part I can think of ( if it is M6) is the section just south of Manchester, below the airport, where its 2 lane, and goes under a bridge. Road becomes very narrow, and "twists" to avoid the central reservation of the bridge.

I think that before redesignng motorways etc, maybe the government should reflect on Re educating Drivers after say 5-10 years, to keep a check that they are able to drive safely and consciencesouly. There are too many people, I find, who are just at too much ease during motorway driving, looking at the cars they overtake as meer objects, and they forget they are travelling at such high speeds !!

It couldnt really fail as I see it, the government could make money from it, so theyd lower fuel prices as theyd have more income from that instead. Bad drivers would be removed from the road for a specific time period, then allowed to retake their tests(More income) It would also lower the numbers of older people on the road, not that Im against them, but there are many who are that Cautious, they become dangerous (More income from bus passes). Theres a whole range of ideas that could take place

The M6 isnt a safe motorway...nor for that fact is any motorway.
Being stood on the ahrd shoulder enough times to know....and it isnt a pleasant place to be.
Added to which i have to have my small(ish) rant....Not wearing a seatbelt is just asking for trouble.
Ive dealt with enough fatal rtcs to see the results of what not wearing a seatbelt does..hence why i have no time for people who dont wear them.
Seatbelts save lives...theres always the exception to any rule..but you know when you havent got it on.
Just poping round to the shop is the classic..and thats when your more likely to be involved in a crash as your guard is down.

if I spot someone without one on..they get a ticket..no excuses....
