The government promised a year ago that they would halve the tunnel tolls. They have now reduced the Severn tolls but broken their promise to Merseyside.

I seem to remember a hint that he would pass the buck to the Liverpool City Region ie if we want cuts then we would have to pay for them locally - not much of a cut!

There was a meeting about the tunnel fees in Feb. Don't know what came from that.

They only charge in one direction iirc so an average of £3.30 a trip which is about to be halved to £1.65? Mersey tunnel is currently £1.70

The Severn bridge is a private enterprise although eventually it will be handed over to public ownership, if the date isn't continually pushed into the future as has been the case so far.
