I think we've already had a thread on the old Moreton-Rhyl hovercraft service, but I saw this on the BBC website ...

... I remember as a kid seeing the hovercraft roaring up on to Moreton Shore. What a sight.

Weird, I was just talking about this to someone last week.

I said that if I won the Euromillions lottery and won far too much (130 million) how I'd waste some of it, and restarting the hovercraft service to North Wales and Crosby would be one!

We tried to get the people who were running the Battle of the Atlantic celebrations to put a hovercraft service for the week from New Brighton to Crosby but like every other idea it went down the plughole, with the statement Wirral Council won't do it , it requires loads of money, for you guessed, a health and safety check

Yet the council can find £850k of our money to put a fire escape staircase (luxury version) in the town hall.... Who votes these socialists in? And more importantly WBC has a history of corruption and I suspect the contract went to their friends.

talking about a fare of around £15. If a private enterprise can make it pay even just for the holiday period it would be worth seeing.

Nine minutes in.

A RNLI volunteer is looking to secure funding to lease a hovercraft to launch a hovercraft service from New Brighton to North Wales, Southport and possibly Speke.
