DETECTIVES investigating the August riots which brought violence to the streets of Merseyside today released a gallery of new suspects.

Nearly four months on, a police team are still on the trail of those alleged to have been involved in the disorder which broke out on two nights in south Liverpool and Birkenhead.

They have spent days trawling through CCTV from street cameras and images captured by officers on the ground.

And now they want names for the faces seen here.

The images were captured around Wavertree, Toxteth, the city centre and Birkenhead over Monday August 8, Tuesday August 9 and into the early hours of August 10 when the rioting was finally quelled.

More than 200 people have so far been arrested as part of the investigation with dozens being put before the courts for rioting.

Detective Superintendent Ian Mulcahey, who is leading the team investigating the disorder, said: “We are continuing with our efforts to trace and locate those involved in the disorder.

“Just because you haven't had a knock on your door from us yet doesn't mean you won't hear from us in the future.

“We are appealing to the community to help us with our enquiries so that we can put those responsible for the disorder before the courts.

“We ask anyone with any information about those pictured in the CCTV images to call us.”

Anyone with information about the disorder should ring police on 0151 709 6010 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, and quote the number on the picture.
