Murder inquiry after man stabbed in Birkenhead
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 27-year-old man was stabbed in Merseyside.

The victim was discovered with multiple stab wounds on Market Street, Birkenhead, just after 0030 BST.

Police believe the man, who died later at Arrowe Park Hospital, was attacked in a house on Market Street

A 28-year-old Merseyside man is being held in custody for questioning. Detectives have sealed off a house on Market Street.

Officers are currently trying to trace the victim's family.

Hey, I work close to this, I work the other end of the Market Street, and the roads are still closed as far as I know.

There are rumours going around where I work, but I wont mention any names on here.

It's very sad, and rather scary when your so close to it.

Right im not sure if this is true but this is one of the possibilities it could be and ive heard this from a guy i know.
The victim was a guy, house sharing with the guy who stabbed him, not sure if its true

Alex it is the truth, I used to spend alot of time in market street in my band days and still in contact with alot of people from there who still live there. He used to drink in the cush and hornblowers.

Hi all.. it is the very same Peter Caine from in the vid, i worked with him at Wirral CVS on the Volunteer Mentor Project and to say i'm devastated would be an understatement. This guy wasn't any kind of scally looking for trouble, he was an amazing bloke with a real love for life after an awful childhood and turning around to be an amazing, inspirational support worker. I'm gonna miss him so much as will everyone who works with the CVS and the projects Pete was involved with.. gutted !!! frown

A Birkenhead man today denied murdering a charity worker by stabbing him in the heart.

27-year-old Peter Caine died after being knifed eight time in Market Street, Birkenhead, in the early hours of May 12.
Man denies murder of Wirral charity worker Peter Caine

Barry Royle, 28, of Market Street, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court via video link from Preston prison, and pleaded not guilty to murder.

The Recorder of Liverpool, Judge Henry Globe further remanded him in custody until September 22. A trial date had already been fixed for October 31.
