Both ends of the road are blocked off.

Detectives are appealing for information after a 38-year-old man was stabbed at an address on Dundonald Street, Birkenhead, yesterday (Sunday, 20 March 2011).

Detectives are appealing for information after a 38-year-old man was stabbed at an address on Dundonald Street, Birkenhead, yesterday (Sunday, 20 March 2011).

The victim was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital suffering from a single stab wound to the torso. His condition is described as serious but stable and the injury is not believed to be life threatening.

At this stage it is believed the stabbing occurred during an argument at the victim's address. Detectives are appealing to anyone who may have heard, or seen anything, which could help them with their inquiries to contact them.

A 50-year-old man from Birkenhead has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and has been taken to a police station where he will be questioned by detectives.
