Wirral drivers warned about leaving valuable items on display in cars

Police have issued a warning to Wirral drivers about the dangers of leaving valuable items on display in their cars.

Leaving items on display including such things as mobile phones, laptops, handbags, shopping and Sat Navs is an open invitation for thieves to break into your car.

Chief Inspector Phil Davies said: "As the lighter nights draw in it is essential for car owners to be vigilant not to leave property on display in their cars.

"Thieves can use the lighter evenings and the fact people will often drive to secluded local beauty spots on the Wirral for an evening walk, as a chance to target vehicles.

"Thieves will often look in boots and glove compartments so the safest thing to do is either take things with you or leave them at home."

For further information on vehicle security or if you have any information which may help the Police contact your Neighbourhood Policing Team either at your local Police Station or on 0151 777 6010 or visit www.merseyside.police.uk. Alternatively you can call Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
