Liscard Ladbrokes betting shop robbed

A MAN burst into a Wirral betting shop and jumped over the counter to steal money.

The robbery happened while two customers were in Ladbrokes, on Wallasey Road, Liscard, at around 5.15pm yesterday.

It is thought that the suspect may have had a knife.

Police were called by a woman working in the shop, after the man, who is thought to be about 20, fled the scene on foot in the direction of Wilkinsons and a nearby housing estate.

A police spokesman said the offender threatened staff with what is believed to be a knife.

He added: “The offender is described as white, in his 20s, 6ft tall, of slim build and wearing a grey hooded top, with tight jeans.”
Police said the man escaped with several hundred pounds in cash.
