So basically, looking at the latest list, it started with a few, and the teachers from the rest will have moaned they arnt getting the day off and are now following suit.

Also, they just look randomly scattered around the area's, some are closed and some are open, its not like "well area x is in a terrible state, close all scools in area x" for instance.

WTF is wrong with this country, people can't cope with a bit of snow??
My kids are happy. raftl Had to go getthem from afterschool club though - took ages to get there.
Seen some of the usual ASBO cases before, on their way home from School, throwing snowballs at passing cars and people.

Will go full-scale tomorrow. This is one reason the schools should be in school. Why do so few kids have problems getting to school nowadays?

When I was in school, and it was heavy snow, I never had a problem, and I used to walk from Moreton, to Wallasey school with me mates, and I can't remember the school being closed.

Nope!

Its a good job the Scandinavians dont take a leaf out of our book - their countries would shut down for 4 months every year! [Linked Image]

Gonna be tricky kids getting to school if they use the bus. Birkenhead School should be fine - all the mummy's drive Chelsea tractors!
Haha when I was in Birkenhead School, I used to get the bus grin

This is why catchment area's are so important - a child should ideally be within walking distance of the school - the majority of the teachers should be too.

Of course not every kid is going to be able to attend, but its rediculous how they shut the school down.

I dont frown lol according to the site Birkenhead School is closed till the 11th, dont know if thats both parts or just the boys part though
Birkenhead School (boys) is closed because they are still on holiday, they're not due to return until the 11th, Birkenhead High School for girls are due back from their Christmas holiday tomorrow

Wirral council has now advised all main stream schools to close tomorrow,

Erm... whats the crack with this then, the roads by mine are all fkin fine, well back to normal now!!

Just an excuse for the teachers to have yet another day off - we all know they like crying for more holidays on a regular basis anyway.

Nice to see Birkenhead School still keepin it real with longer holidays... but when I was there, the downside was we had longer days than other schools lol.
Yes, the days are still longer at Birkenhead School - which btw is co-ed now, not just for boys (my daughter goes there now and absolutely loves it!).
Yeah I was told that a couple of years back when they were proposing it. Did'nt most of the girls school stay private and gradually, as the years are going on they have moved across to goverment funded or summit?

That was one thing worth getting the school bus for - the girls school used the same buses as us lads!!

grin
had to laugh at the list on heart website all schools in wirral closed thursday apart from NewBrighton primary..it's on a hill as well
Woodchurch C of E Primary school woodchurch is not on list,
I think that's closed tomorrow,

UPDATE: Council confirms that all schools bar one will remain closed tomorrow

WIRRAL Council has confirmed that all mainstream schools bar one will be closed again tomorrow because of the current bad weather.

A spokesman for the local education authority said this afternoon that all schools had been advised to stay closed.

New Brighton Primary School is the only one that will open.

All special schools will be closed for the rest of the week as there is no 'home to school' specialist transport.

In addition Wirral Metropolitan College and Birkenhead Sixth Form college will be closed again tomorrow.

For up to date information on school closures visit the website below.

New Brighton Primary School? thats on a hill isn,t it? confused
I have to say Well Done to the council and media for quality of information they are putting out.
Down in Devon the local press 'update every hour' was last updated at 1.30pm and Devon County Council has little or no info about tomorrow's school closures on it and will probably crash again in the morning like it did this morning when people are trying to find out what is going on.
Believe me, you may think Wirral Council is shyte but they're excellent compared to some.
