Officers will be handing out leaflets to promote personal safety at shopping centres across Merseyside. Knife-detection arches will be placed outside bars and clubs later, and the police will be visiting various venues.

Supt Bill McWilliam said: "We will be targeting offenders intent on causing misery over Christmas." A personal safety website has also been set up.

Mr McWilliam added: "We want to reassure the public that we're taking action and also remind them that they need to take responsibility for themselves, their property and cash when they're out and about."

Was given a don't drink and drive leaflet on the way out of the Bagdad tunnel last night. Lol.

I do wish the police would stop with these lazy incentives and start doing more walking. You'd think they'd have got the message by now.
