Police investigate raid at Wirral jewellers

POLICE have launched an investigation following a break-in at a Wirral jewellers this morning.

One eyewitness told the Globe that three men wearing balaclavas pulled up in a black BMW outside Pykes Jewellers in Grange Road, Birkenhead, at around 9.50am.

They are believed to have thrown a smoke bomb through the window before escaping with a quantity of jewellery.

It is the second time the store has been raided in recent months.

Police are studying CCTV footage and questioning witnesses. At the moment, the value of jewellery that was stolen is not known.
