Body found in Liverpool may be that of missing Higher Bebington businessman Bernard Cook

POLICE believe a body found in a submerged car in a Liverpool dock last week could be that of missing Higher Bebington businessman Bernard Cook.

Mr Cook, who was an estates director with Mersey Docks and Harbour Board, went missing from his workplace in Seaforth on Wednesday, November 16, 2005.

Officers were called to the Sandon Half Tide Dock in Bootle at around 2.45pm last Friday by Port of Liverpool police, after the vehicle was discovered submerged in the water.

The vehicle was recovered from the water and the body of a man found inside.

Police are working to establish the identity of the man and dental records are currently being examined.

Liaison officers have been in touch with Mr Cook's family and are keeping them up-to-date with any developments.

Mr Cook was 54 at the time of his disappearance.

I remember the Police conducted a huge search when the guy first went missing and leaflets were handed out in the city centre appealing for any sightings. Our thought go out to his family

IIRC his MDHB logoed van went missing the same time he did. That they've even mentioned a name would suggest dental records are just a formality.
