Mugger beats man with club
A MAN was beaten about the head by a mugger who stole his wallet.
The 59-year-old victim needed treatment for head injuries after the attack near Birkenhead Park.
He had been walking along Ashville Road at the junction with Park Drive when he was pushed to the ground and hit several times on the head with what was described as a wooden club or stick.
The attacker then stole the man's wallet and ran off in the direction of Park Road North.
He is described as white, aged between 20 and 30, around 5ft 8ins, of slim build and wearing dark clothing.
The victim, who is from the Prenton area, required stitches.
