Everton residents fear teenage yob gang

AN aggressive young gang is believed to be behind a wave of terrifying burglaries.

Residents in the Everton area say they are being terrorised by a small group of increasingly violent youths who are forcing their way into houses while homeowners are still inside.

One man on West Derby Road pursued the gang naked after he jumped from the shower when they targeted his home.

The home invasions peaked with 11 at the end of March, and the perpetrators are known in the area but are frightening some residents into silence.

The break-ins have seen doors kicked in and terrified householders being confronted by the former drug dealers who sources say have escalated to burglary for funds after falling out with their supplier.

Too scared to be identified, residents around the Conway Estate say the teenagers threaten to use guns if they encounter resistance.

One told The ECHO: “They are so dangerous, they even boasted that they were responsible for the carjackings that took place in Stanley Park last year.

“One poor girl was on her first driving lesson when a gun was put in her face.

“After burglaries they run into the houses of young single mums around here but they’re so terrified they won’t talk to police. Names have been passed to police and the gang move around the area.

“They were even linked to the firebombing of the Oakfield Pub in Anfield and they disappeared for a few weeks because they angered some more senior criminals but they’re back and they’re getting worse.

“They’re evil, they’ve been causing mayhem in the Breckfield Road area and the levels of violence are escalating, so something has to be done.”

Detective Inspector Rob Hill said: “Our dedicated burglary unit is committed to reducing burglaries in north Liverpool and we will target all named suspects with the aim of arresting and bringing them to justice at the very earliest opportunity.

“We have increased patrols in the area and have recently made a number of arrests.

“We are absolutely determined to target those responsible and we will act on every piece of community intelligence we receive.”

Police have urged anyone with any information about any such offences to call the burglary unit on 0151 777 4561 or Crime-stoppers anon- ymously on 0800 555 111.

As someone who was burgled on Sunday afternoon (in Birmingham) I know what I'd do with them and it'd make the torture scene in Resevoir Dogs look like childs play.

It's a pity ... like this hide behind their weapons. I wonder how hard they would be without them?
