Police appeal over bag snatcher



Police are appealing for witnesses to a theft on New Chester Road, New Ferry.

At 3.40pm on Monday, a 51-year-old woman was walking along the subway on New Chester Road, next to Corona Road, when she spotted a man leaning against the railings.

As she walked past the man, he pulled the handbag from the victim's shoulder.

The victim was uninjured during the incident, but was distressed.

The offender ran off with the handbag towards Shorefields.

He was chased by a passer by but he lost sight of the offender.

The offender is described as male white, 5ft 10in - 6ft tall, around 20-years-old with a slim build.

He was wearing a dark tracksuit, black training shoes and a black woollen hat.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information that may help the police with their inquiries is asked to contact them on 0151 777 2274, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
