POLICE were called to a Wirral train station after a man jumped onto the tracks.
Officers attended New Brighton station at around 4pm yesterday following reports of a man on the line.
Alarmed witnesses said he appeared to rest his head on the rails and remained there for 10 minutes despite cries from members of the public and concerned staff.
Merseyrail suspended services on the New Brighton line until the man could be led to safety from the track.
The man, 47, was taken to hospital following the incident
