where they 210 or 215. Ive never heard of square numbers bein used on cars. Always seem to be 165-175-185-195-205 etc etc. Id like to know this info too. Also like to know what is the lowest profile on a 195 wide 15 inch rim.

Thats right Scoop, tyre sizes go up in 195-205-215-225-235 and so on...

The lowest profile on a 195-15 is a 45 profile (195/45-15)

karl, you should be able to

Karl, the tyre will physically fit onto the wheel but it will be slightly wider and slightly higher that the 205.

This will also alter your "Rolling Road Diameter" therefore giving your speedo incorrect readings.

Scoop, 205/50-15 is the lowest profile available in a 205-15"

Cheers scoob, ur a fountain of knowledge. Rolling road diameter does not bother me, I'd actually like a lower diameter thus slightler (incy wincy) faster acceleration. First things first though i need my 15s

Scoop - 205/50/15s defo fit on the escort but u need to find out WIDTH of the alloy

e.g. I have my Cosworth rims:
7X15 meaning i could use 205/50/15

Karl, don't forget that if you're changing the tyre size you need the same size on each end of an axle to stay legal, ie: both front ones must be the same size and both rear ones must be the same size.
Posted By: scoop Re: tyre profiles - 18th Jul 2005 1:33am
rears can be bigger than fronts but can fronts be bigger than rears??
Posted By: Scooby Re: tyre profiles - 18th Jul 2005 8:20am
Fronts can be bigger but looks kinda Stupid in my opinion. As long as both tyres are the same size on each individual axle.

thanks peeps big help, and cheers scooby, think the 205 40 will be goin on the front and the 215 40 on the back.
