i was gonna say plugs leads and fuel cleaner, but reading on you've already done that. Check for an airleak in the intake trunking

i think you need to get the diagnostics checked hun i know some one who might be able to help. possibly a problem with the ecu or so im told!

you might need to replace the coil. i would reccomend something other than redex, as i used it in my escort and it did it more harm than good! kept making it misfire.

think i found the problem. My throttle body has a crack in it so might be an air leak or something from there. might get meself a 2litre one and see how it goes thanks everyone.
kat can you pm me with the details of the person who might be able to help thanks hun

can u hear a hissing coming from the throttle body, put ur finger over the hole when the engines running, see if it sucks or blows on ur hand,if so then i really do think this is the problem. 2 litre ones a good idea anyway, more power for very very little dosh

Mobdeo's are very common to split a Vaccum hose just by the coil area.

Its a small "L Shape" rubber connector and costs about £3.00 from Fords.

Bit tricky to get your hand in there but normally only a 10 mins job.

i seem to have the same problem, driving a 1.4 Xsara...

the revs are at about 1,000 when idel and it doesn't seem to give me power unless i accelerate at about 3,000rpm, otherwise if i try to take off at less then 2,000rpm it will stall or the engine will rev its self then cut out..

Any help?

My gf had an astra that was seriously underpowered and it turned out to be the actual distributer.

But the crank shaft broke a couple of days later lol

seems like the prob has gone awy when fitting 2.0 throttle body

Scoop when would a TB ever Blow? Suck yes. Glad the 2.0 TB workd, you guys should know to contact me as I have been a bit absent as of late.

Rob, Once youve fitted the TB remove battery from car over night (Needs to be a few hours) and re-connect, this resets the ECU and it will do a system check. Let it idle for a few mins until it settles, then take it for a drive but change gear before 2k revs, take it nice and slow and over a period of time return to normal driving mode - This will let the ECU reconize what components it has and the condition there in.

check ur plugs and check the gap hasnt closed up
Posted By: Dazza Re: hesitation on hard acceleration - 16th Feb 2006 6:29pm
BTW - This can be closed I think as it was a crack in the throttle body housing

that could explain it lol doh
