Hiya hi

My friends Clio is making a rather weird noise. When shes sitting at traffic lights or has the engine running the cars makes a strange ticking sound. It sounds like shes left her indicators or something on but its alot faster than the over all speed of the indication ticking over. What could it be? hmmm...

First things first, get her to check the engine oil level think

It could also be the alternater drive belt (Fan Belt) frayed and fouling something think

Let me know how you get on.

I had a similar sound coming from the Astra a short while back. I poked my head under the bonnet to check it out, lent on the air box to get closer and it stopped. Turned out to be a loose screw on the air box doh

Could have left her clock under the bonnet. Only joking is the ticking loud or not could be a loose nut/screw tappits or a bad earth that sounds like its coming from the engine but is in the dash.(i had a xr2 that had one took the engine out stupid me) get her to come to a meet if she doesnt get looked at by a pro i am sure some of the guys n girls will find it out no probs hope this helps. PS what size engine is it. And is it over headcam or valve. It does sound like it could be that the tappits need ajusting. sorry about the spelling mistakes.

how loud is the ticking sound, if you sit and listen without the radio on you can normally hear the injectors ticking away.

had this in my 206, and ive got it in my clio 182.

french **** for u, i had my pug go back for it, they replaced the injectors and the ticking was not as bad but was still their.

but where talking, u have to really listen, sometimes its louder when cold

can also be the tappets, they can get clogged and make a ticking noise.

had this in my saxo and my PUG 206.

got engine oil addertive from pug or halfords and this cured the problem.

try that aswell

My mates clio had that sound, and a couple of hours later the oil light came on.

The pugs and citroens seem to be prone to "tappety" engines, my AX was fairly bad for it.

indicator relay, under the dash board by the fuse box, change it before they pack in
