What do you all think I should get? any help or advice would be gratefull

yep. turbo will affect reliability! Why not 1.2 16V transplant b4 bit o NOS? 1.2v r lot more free revin thann ur 8v and wid 6speed sporting box is really nippy. wud no how ur 8v is when nosd aint seen any!

Any engine modification will effect your engines reliability. If your engine is built to withstand 100 BHP and you start pushing 180 BHP through it, well simply something is going to break thumbsup On a personal level, Nitrous Oxide is Awesome mate, so much power increase at the flick of a switch thumbsup </b>

Engine conversion, there's no point to tuning up a 1.2 imo. I say drop a 1.8 in it, if you find an engine the right price then you'll be paying what you would for a turbo anyway.

What about the Punto GT motor - bigger engine and a turbo smile

Only problem with throwing a bigger engine in or increaing the power that drastically is all the other components on the car. If you shoot from 1.2 power to 180bhp, your std brakes aint gonna be up to it, the std suspension aint gonna do its job.

Youll prolly also find the insurance is more on a 1.2 with turbo conversion than a factory turbo car frown

Is it not cheaper to buy a turbo'd car to start with confused

i have thought about a 1.4 turbo out of a mk 1 and i do like the idea i also think this would be best for reliability but how easy would it be since it has a turbo would the whole loom need changing. If i went for this option i would send it to get a full rebuild first. I was on ebay and seen one going for £250 with loom and gearbox etc,do you think this will be ideal???????

scooby would you be able to do a engine swap like that 1.2 8v to a 1.4 turbo???????????? if so can you pm me with an estimate cheers

I would take the conversion on matey but only the mechanical work. I would NOT get involved with the wiring or electronics at all, far too complex and you wouldnt be happy paying the labour charges involved for the wiring loom change smack

My opinion is to put NOS on. You have the instant increase in power and when you come to sell, take it out and put it on your new motor or sell it on Ebay?

i think my car is puttimg around 70bhp so which means i am aloud a 17.5 bhp shot of nos but ive only seen kits as low as 25bhp would this be safe or are there smaller kits available on the market. I need somthing doing before the nationals so i need to make a decision quick. cheers for the advice so far peeps

a 25 bhp would be safe mate thumbsup

Its not the kits that very, its simply the size of jets fitted into the pulsoids.
