I'm biting the bullet and gonna get a set of 17's for the Fez once me loans in me bank account

Been asking around today and its looking VERY expensive, but I think it'll be worth it

Not seen a Fez on 17's before

Looks like what I'm needing are coilovers or a cheaper option of shocks and springs
and ALOT of arch work!

Just want peoples opinions if you guys n girls think it'll be worth it?

Or should I just put up with expensive tyre costs and go with 16's?

I really want to have 17's, be different from all the other MK3's with 15's
Prove people it CAN be done

Please let me know peeps happy

Depends on what 17's you want... do you have any in mind?
Posted By: Meesh Re: 15's, 16's or 17's? - 31st May 2005 5:34pm
Saw em in a brochure today in Autofast and the furious

the 16's are black centre with a chrome outer rim, around £500

the 17's are a little bit like Maverick's old wheels but they aint out till July, gotta wait 5 weeks for em

Meesh, shreks wheels are for sale mate for a very modest price. Brand new tires all round but the rims do need reconditioning. Smae style as mavs but chrome and the spokes are thinner. Wud accept 300 for them mate

Koya 11 - 16"

I know the picutre's of a Wolfrace rim, but as they're not out yet this is the closest match I could find

To be honest mate putting 17's on a Fiesta aint really that different, people have been doing it for years. Coilovers are helpful but you'd still need arch work, you could put a set of shocks and springs on like my old ones and get arch work done cool

Its only worth going for coilovers if your into having great handling and need to adjust it often to various reasons etc

Wouldn't bother with 16's for the simple fact that the tyres cost a bomb!

Go for 17's smile get the suspension done first, and take your car to a bodyshop when you get the wheels and tell them to fit them and do all the necessary arch work whilst the wheels are being put on cool

God dam it!

Now I'm tempted by those Wolfrace ones! 15" or 17" they come in think

I dont think black with a chome lip would suit your car to be honest meesh frown

Maybe a normal alloy, polished alloy, paint a section of a normal alloy the asme colour of your car, like on that red/glitter fiesta with the delorian styles doors at the nationals??

I want either the Wolfrace 17's or the Koya 16's at the moment

If it ends up being too much work and the car looking wrong jacked up on 17's I'll take the Koya's think

my 15's are still for sale same as scoops but in A1 condition and going for the same price and they come with brand new tyres.

Back to topic i think 16's are cool but as your not running as much power as you would like smaller wheels will help so go for 15's.

17 my lad. make sure you remember though you will have to sort out some lowering for the fizz or you will look like scooby. if you have springs you can go to halfords and get some spring clamps . it will work out about 10 pound a wheel. there no the best way but it will do you for the time being. i done it to my rear suspension and i was really made up with it. do it meash
Posted By: Meesh Re: 15's, 16's or 17's? - 1st Jun 2005 12:59pm
think

So for 17's I'd need shocks, springs AND a lowering kit?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: 15's, 16's or 17's? - 1st Jun 2005 1:25pm
Aftermarket shocks and springs like Koni, Spax, G-Max etc all come with anything between 30-80mm lower than standard ride height.

What andy was talking about are spring clamps that can be used on your current suspension cool

which would be cheaper or easier?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: 15's, 16's or 17's? - 1st Jun 2005 4:28pm
spring clamps
Posted By: scoop Re: 15's, 16's or 17's? - 1st Jun 2005 5:12pm
Get a full sports suspension kit meesh fella. Only cost about 250 bar (give or take) and itll up your handling no end aswell as lowering the car. Spring clamps are a silly idea and as far as im aware are only used to hold the springs shut while u remove them from the strut, not to compress the strut to "lower" ur car. That sounds dangerous and the dampers are still gonna be soft thus making the handling even worse than it is now.Up to u mate but thats my two pennies worth

your thinking of the wrong kind of spring clamps smile

and adam you are thinking of the right spring clamps! they deffo do a good job on andys car and he aint had no worries wid them!

Been given this advice, if its true I'll be so f***in happy!

17" fit mark3s but u need longer studs and 2 spaces on the back an u can leve the arches
Posted By: scoop Re: 15's, 16's or 17's? - 2nd Jun 2005 6:53pm
longer studs? that sounds expensive. just get a wider offset But make sure its not too wide as it may protrude from the outer arch. This means when u lower it it will drop the arch lip onto the tire if u go far enough. I think wheels/tires and suspension is an area where u really SHOULD NOT WING IT. Pay out the money and get the archwork meesh, and a proper suspension kit not some "caravan towing" clamps

After getting some advice on fiestaturbo.com I'm gonna go with the 17's

need to get uprated shocks and roll the arches

Theres a lad on there who's done that and his are fine

what are you gonna do when you need new tyres? get a loan? 19's on a standard fiesta might look a bit/lot daft meesh, would look better if you had a widder than wide - wide arch kit maybe, handling will be none existant and i dont think you'd have much chance of ever doing a 3 point turn again tease

The spring clamps that im talking about are NOT from caravans or anything like that, they work on Andys car. They may not be the best idea but if your looking for a cheap solution then thats about as cheap as it gets apart from cutting springs, which is just dangerous.

In my opinion, anything bigger than 16" on a small car looks ridiculous. The car sits about a foot off the ground, and makes the car look even worse than on 13" unlowered!!
It looks so much better on cambered 15's and lowered.
