Is it possible to make non-turbos flame at any decent level??? I mean its obviously not going to be anythin like yours scooby! but ive heard some people say it is decent on a normally aspirated engine if its over 1.5i and others say its not worth it unless you got turbo?

Flamer kits are NOT Guaranteed to work on any car, Turbo's do help a little. Any car with a catalyst will not work, it must be de-catted.

For the best results you need to add a source of fuel (Propane is most common) and this is where they start to look good.
Posted By: Basskiddanny Re: CW FLAMES - 29th Jan 2005 2:12am
So if i got a de-cat and then bought a "dragon" flamer kit, it would possibly give some sort of result?
Posted By: Scooby Re: CW FLAMES - 29th Jan 2005 2:42am
Yeah, those dragon kits look quite good but i havnt seen one in action yet.
Posted By: Basskiddanny Re: CW FLAMES - 29th Jan 2005 2:45am
anyone suggest a place to fit one of these kits properly without messing it up? I just dont feel confident putting a whole in my backbox for the spark plug....which u need as far as i know lol....

How recent are those pics scoob. The flames are so different to the ones i seen at CNW. Those are all lickety flames and at CNW they were hi pressure bunsun burner style. Are those 2 different generations of flamer kit or just different styles of triggerin the kit flames??????

Love it sooo much
Posted By: Tony MK2 Re: CW FLAMES - 12th Feb 2005 11:37pm
you won't find any of that out scoop its TOP SERCET fella no one find out how he does it if everyone was tofind out how to do it scooby wouldn't be the only flamer of the year at main Event now would he happy
Posted By: Scooby Re: CW FLAMES - 13th Feb 2005 12:16am
Lol, Scoop, yes i have 2 different designs of the flamer system.

  • Stage one

[Linked Image]

  • Stage two

[Linked Image]

As said above this latest one has been under development for several months now, i can do the Jet style flames (Afterburners) or i can produce these huge intense yellow flames also. It has took nearly a year to develop to the standards it is at now and i am still practicing to obtain the best results from it. The unly problem is that every time i do the testing i am melting my rear bumber more and more, if you look there is cracking and blistering on this current bumber which has only been on the car for approx 4 months or so smack

As tony said i wont disclose how i have done this flamer set-up as it will ruin the chances of retaiming my title of UK Flamer Champion and the competition could copy my idea's.

Dunno if you know this, but JohnWRX doesn't actually have a flamer kit on his car, his exhaust just does that naturally happy
Posted By: Scooby Re: CW FLAMES - 13th Feb 2005 9:23pm
Yeah, my scooby does that also, its turbo "Spitback" just like you see on rally cars, due to turbo over-run......

Johns appears to do it more than other cars i have seen though.

Yeah bit of a strange one mine but its quite funny smile especially when people come up your ass, quick blip on the gas pedal and they soon back off smile lol

quote from USC staff about the flamer competition
"More track action ended with the first-ever exhaust flame-out competition down on the startline, with a huge selection of snarling cars flaming their exhausts together. All types of car and flame-system were represented, from Minis using a simple but vicious over-run system through to a wicked Scooby with twin-exhaust gas injection"
Wonder hu that could be hmmmm
Posted By: scoop Re: CW FLAMES - 21st Mar 2005 6:58pm
i read today that fittin a atmospheric dump valve to a focus RS makes it pop and spit flames, especially if u have a de-cat,

The reason for this is simple, the MAS measured the charged air and lumps the correct amount of fuel in to make it run sweet but if u lift off it chucks all that boost out of the system and the car then runs mega rich and that often comes out of the exhaust still burning! with a normal recirculating dump valve tho the charged air is just put back into the intake tract where the pressure drops greatly but not completely

Neat eh?!

just thought i would let you no that i saw you yesterday jay, you were in birkenhead and i was with my dad in his new shape corsa waiting to pull out of a road when you went past, just as you went past you must of changed gear and a little flame poped out, and i was like thats not very big but i carried on watching you while my dad was waiting to pull out of the road and when you got to a bend a just saw this big massive flame, i had forgoten just how big your flames are, looked really good, cant wait to see them close up

the best 1 has 2 be motorbikes lol, thought kim was gona have a heart attack
Posted By: Scooby Re: CW FLAMES - 15th Aug 2005 11:07pm
Let me explain what linsey is talking about, driving along last night keeping myself to myself and suddenly there was a "Now Then" right up my ass on a rev & Go scooter thing flaunting L Plates and thinking he was great, bit to close to my scooby for my liking so i give him a small flame as a warning to back off a little raftl

I poped a rather large fireball from the exhaust and he drove straight through it as he didnt have enough time to take avoiding action. He looked like one of them stunt men from a action film raftl raftl

Fireball flame a bit like this :

Who would be able to decat a jag and fit a dual flamer???Would the decat do much harm to the engine???
Posted By: Scooby Re: CW FLAMES - 2nd Mar 2006 12:34am
Cybox should be able to De-Cat for you mate, but you may loose performance ?

You need to do some homework on your car and back pressure mate.

You can have a flamer fitted without de-catting but you need to add a source of fuel before the tailpipe. Butane kits are available for this.
Posted By: Johnny Alan Re: CW FLAMES - 2nd Mar 2006 12:37am
Where do you get butane kits though, and how do you use them??
Posted By: scoop Re: CW FLAMES - 2nd Mar 2006 3:28am
butane may be the best on the jag mate, cos altho i dont think the de-cat and natural approach damages engines,i wouldnt test that theory on a jag engine.butane works by spraying butane into the exhaust pipe just infront of the back box,and igniting it with a spark plug, operation is by opening the butane bottle which flows the gas,may be able to fit a trigger button too so u have control over it from the front seat, maybe jay can elaborate?
